Sell Your Soles & Too Big For Your Boots
Want £5 off* new shoes? Of course you do! Look out for our Sell Your Soles initiative in all schuh stores, or Too Big For Your Boots in all schuh Kids stores.
Bring your worn, unwanted or outgrown shoes to any schuh or schuh Kids store and we’ll recycle them. Remember, they don’t even need to be from schuh. In return, we’ll give you £5 off* a brand new pair of shoes. You can then redeem the voucher in store or online, whatever works for you.
We are however, unable to accept any shoes that have been damaged, such as soles, buttons and zips intentionally or unintentionally removed, torn and ripped beyond repair, burnt, soaked, mouldy, damp, wet or contaminated and soiled in liquids such as rain water, paint and oils or are presented in a condition where collection and processing represents risks to Health and Safety or could contaminate otherwise acceptable materials.

Recyclatex
We are proud to introduce these initiatives in partnership with Recyclatex as part of our on-going commitment to operate sustainably.
Launched in the 1990’s the Recyclatex Group, headquartered in Manchester, is a trading organisation formed by a select number of textile reuse and recycling companies who are experts in collection, logistics and identifying value in used clothing and shoes. The Reyclatex Group promote extending the life of items and reusing preloved fashion.
Recyclatex collects all donated footwear on a weekly basis, ensuring 98% of the items are then re-sold, where the goods provide a small business opportunity and a living for families in developing economies. Approximately 2% of donated footwear is in a condition not suitable for re-sale. Recyclatex are unable to accept any shoes that have been damaged, such as soles, buttons and zips intentionally or unintentionally removed, torn and ripped beyond repair, burnt, soaked, mouldy, damp, wet or contaminated and soiled in liquids such as rain water, paint and oils or are presented in a condition where collection and processing represents risks to Health and Safety or could contaminate otherwise acceptable materials. Both schuh and Recyclatex are committed to engaging in footwear recycling trials when available to research alternative options for the non-reusable shoes. Highly skilled sorters go through all donated items by hand. Any waste and shoes unsuitable for reuse markets will be removed. This accounts for less than 2% of what is collected. Most of this waste is sent to incineration for Energy from Waste which turns residual waste into a form of usable energy, such as heat or electricity. If this option is not available, the waste will be sent to landfill, however, all waste material is dealt with directly in the UK. Alternatives to landfill and EfW are constantly being sought.
For every tonne collected, the funds raised are used to support schuh’s sustainability partner of choice, World Land Trust.
Our aim is to create a circular economy, in an effort to make footwear more sustainable.
World Land Trust
Founded in 1989, World Land Trust works with local NGO partners around the world to save and protect critically threatened wildlife habitats.
Funding through WLT programmes enables WLT partners to create protected reserves and biological corridors for species while saving tropical forest and tackling climate change.
schuh is supporting WLT’s Plant a Tree programme, which funds WLT’s local conservation partners to reforest areas that have been lost in the past and reconnect fragmented habitat for wildlife.
